Venetian port (harbour) is the old port and the symbol of Heraklion, whose history is ancient as the history of the town. Currently it's one of the favorite strolling spots of the local people, as well as curious tourists. You can reach it following the pedestrian street from the center of the city.
The
tower, which dominates the entrance, during the time of the Venetians
carried the name "Sea Fortress", but during the time of the Turks it got the name
"Koules" which preserved to this day. For the
centuries it was one of the most important ports of the eastern Mediterranean
due to the natural position of the bay, but nowadays it is equally packed with
boats, ships and yachts...
Mletacka luka je stara luka i simbol Irakliona, cija je istorija duga kao i istorija samog grada. Trenutno je jedno od omiljenih setalista lokalnog stanovnista, ali i radoznalih turista. Do nje se stize pesackom zonom koja vodi iz centra grada.
Kula koja dominira ulazom je u vreme Mlecana nosila ime "Morska Tvrdjava" ali je u vreme Turaka preuzela ime "Koules" koje traje i do danasnjih dana. Nekada je vekovima bila jedna od najvaznijih luka istocnog Mediterana zbog prirodnog polozaja zaliva, ali je i sada podjednako krcata camcima, brodovima i jahtama...

ReplyDeleteNadam se d aću jednog dana posetiti Krit. A i Rodos. Od grčkih ostrva sam bila samo na Zakintosu, a želim da posetim mesto koje, pored plaža, ima i neku kulturu, tradiciju.
