Short but sweet, that's how I'd describe our mini vacation in June. It lasted only few days, but it was enough to recharge our batteries. The weather was not the best (clouds and rains almost every day all over Greece), the sea was still cold, yet it didn't ruin anything...
We were spending mornings by the sandy beach, playing by the water and soaking up the sun. Afternoon hours were dedicated to the hotel pools- there was a mini one perfect for Stefan. Evenings were for the walks by the sea...
Kratko ali slatko, tako bih opisala nas mini odmor u junu mesecu. Trajao je samo par dana, ali sasvim dovoljno da napunimo baterije. Vreme nije bilo najbolje, kise i oblaci skoro svaki dan po citavoj teritoriji Grcke, more je i dalje bilo prohladno, ali to nam nista nije pokvarilo....
Provodili smo jutra na pescanoj plazi, igrajuci se pored vode i upijajuci sunce. Popodnevni casovi su bili rezervisani za hotelske bazene- bio je i jedan mini bazen savrsen za Stefana. Veceri su bili za setnje pored obale...
Although I have been living in Greece for years, it was the first time for me to stay at some hotel/resort near Athens. I visited Glyfada a few times, but it was January month.
This time we stayed at "Golden Coast hotel & bungalows", closed-type 4-star hotel at Marathon (Marathonas) beach in Nea Makri. This resort has its own beach, central hotel and a lot of bungalows, 3-4 pools (one for small kids), bars, restaurants, one shop. Most of the tourists are French and Italians. There is a French animation team- they had different programs every day, with the focus on the fitness ones. It's truly good for a family vacation, especially for the small kids as there are no cars running around.
Iako vec godinama zivim u Grckoj, do sad se nije zadesilo da odmaram u nekom letovalistu u Atini. U Glifadi sam bila nekoliko puta, ali u januaru mesecu.
Ovog puta se zadesilo da odsednemo u "Golden Coast Hotel & Bungalows", hotelu sa 4 zvezdice zatvorenog tipa na Maraton (Maratonas) plazi u mestu Nea Makri. Ovaj hotel ima svoju plazu, centralni hotel i puno bungalova, 3-4 bazena (jedan za decu), barove, restorane, prodavnicu. Vecina turista su Francuzi i Italijani. Postoji francuski animacioni tim- imali su razlicite programe tokom citavog dana, sa fokusom na fitness. Odmaraliste je zaista dobro za porodicno letovanje, narocito za malu decu jer nema kola koja jure okolo.
We had a bungalow, with one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen and living room with two sofas, so it was enough for the 4 of us. I can't speak about the food at the hotel (even though I didn't hear nice things for this year) as we were making our own meals. There are 4-5 big supermarkets outside of the hotel, reachable by the car or on foot.
Mi smo imali bungalov, sa jednom spavacom sobom, kupatilom, kuhinjom i dnevnom sobom sa dve sofe, tako da je to bilo sasvim dovoljno za nas cetvoro. Ne mogu da pricam o hrani u hotelu (iako nisam cula nista dobro za ovu godinu) zato sto smo mi sami spremali nase obroke. Postoji 4-5 vecih supermarketa u blizini hotela koja su dostupna kolima, ili cak peske.
Yes, it's completely different when you travel with little ones. Definitely it's not easy but I always go with the flow, plus I'm always prepared. I'm used to being alone with my kid. We had our program, my mum and her friend had their own, but we spent enough time all together. All in all it was one nice summer experience, with plenty of memories and pictures!:)
Da, potpuno je drugacije letovati i putovati sa detetom/decom. Definitivno nije lako ali ja uvek "idem sa tokom", plus uvek sam pripremljena. Navikla sam da budem sama sa svojiim detetom. Mi smo imali svoj program, mama i njen prijatelj svoj, ali smo proveli dovoljno vremena zajedno. Sve u svemu jedno lepo letnje iskustvo, sa dosta uspomena i slika.:)

One thing's for sure: COVID-19 made us to miss travel more than ever before. I personally missed traveling more than socializing. I missed free movement (just as much as free breathing without the face mask), and not being limited to one place/municipality/state/country.
I studied tourism, and worked as a travel guide. Traveling is a part of my life, it'll always be. It is my kind of a psychotherapy- nothing makes me more inspired and refreshed than the physical change of my everyday surrounding. Even one day spent somewhere else can be enough when I feel stuck in a rut. Seaside, mountains, lake, countryside, spas, literally any place can make me feel alive again. And I prefer giving money for traveling than buying material stuff, it's the investment that always pays off. Jedno je sigurno: COVID-19 je ucinio da nam nedostaju putovanja vise nego ikada. Meni su licno putovanja nedostajala vise nego socijalizovanje. Nedostajalo mi je slobodno kretanje (koliko i slobodno disanje bez zastitne maske), i to da nisi ogranicen na jedno mesto/opstinu/drzavu.
Ja sam studirala turizam, i radila kao turisticki vodic. Putovanja su deo mog zivota, uvek su bila, uvek ce biti. To je moja vrsta psihoterapije- nista me ne inspirise i osvezi vise nego fizicka promena okruzenja. Nekad je dovoljno da pobegnem negde na jedan dan, ako osecam "kao da tapkam u jednom mestu". More, planine, jezero, selo, drugi grad, banja, bukvalno bilo koje mesto moze da me ponovo ozivi. I iskreno vise volim da dam pare na putovanja nego na materijalne stvari, ta investicija se uvek vraca. Zato mi uopste nije jasno zasto sam toliko cekala da podelim inspirativne citate koji olako probude zelju za putovanjim i nateraju vas da odmah pozelite da spakujete kofer! There's one "positive" thing (there are more positive things for me, but we won't talk about it right now) that people can learn during this global corona-virus epidemic. That is to value more travel, vacations, nature, landscapes. To appreciate more the freedom of movement. These are the things that most people take for granted. Also we get to feel again the inestimable power of silence, peace, balance...
For example, that feeling like "the time has stopped", I experienced during my short stay on Koufonisia island. When you feel there's only you and nature, when you hear the sounds of waves, sounds of birds. To sit in a bar by the sea at night, where commercial lamps are replaced with candles on the tables, starry skies and the full moon glow. Where the cars don't pass non-stop so the air is clean. Here you can fully feel that chillout vibe which became a luxury nowadays...
Of course in the peak-season it's a bit different. This small island known as Mykonos island heir, which covers only 26km², is crowded with people. That's why I prefer to travel off-season when you can enjoy the charm and natural beauty of a place without distractions, crowds and noises. Postoji jedna "pozitivna" stvar (za mene vise pozitivnih stvari, ali necemo sad o tome) koju ljudi mogu da nauce tokom ove globalne korona-virus epidemije. To je da vise vrednuju putovanja, odmore, prirodu, pejsaze… Da vise cene slobodu kretanja. To su stvari koje vecina ljudi uzima "zdravo za gotovo". Takodje nanovo se moze upoznati i osetiti neprocenjiva moc tisine, spokoja, mira, balansa...
Eto recimo taj osecaj "kao da je vreme stalo" sam dozivela tokom kratkog boravka na ostrvu Kufonisija. Osecaj da postojite samo ti i priroda, da cujes zvuke talasa, zvuke ptica. Da sedis uvece u kaficu pored mora, gde su komercijalne svetiljke zamenjene svecama na stolovima, zvezdanim nebom i sjajem punog meseca. Gde ne prolaze non-stop automobili pa je vazduh cist... Tu mozes da u potpunosti osetis, u danasnje vreme luksuzni, chillout vibe...
Naravno u spicu sezone stvar je pomalo drugacija. Ovo malo ostrvo koje nazivaju naslednikom Mikonosa, i koje zahvata svega 26km², je krcato ljudima. Zato ja vise volim da putujem van sezone, kada mozes da uzivas u carima i prirodnoj lepoti mesta bez ometanja, guzve i buke. Have to admit, I have strange "love-hate relationship" with Mykonos island. I mean the island is gorgeous! Great and organized sandy beaches (and I've seen a loooot of Greek beaches), dreamy hotels, chic restaurants and taverns, elegant shops, excellent beach clubs/bars... but... it makes me sick how much Mykonos became commercialized over the last years. So much that it lost its unique vibe.
In my opinion Mykonos is more than a "party" island, just like Ibiza is. Frankly speaking many of those who visit the island don't even know how to have fun (unless they're drank from the early morning)… Anyway I'll skip the ugly stories that I hear about its visitors and (just like always) I'll focus on the best that Mykonos have, in this case: fabulous beaches! Take a look at the most famous and beautiful beaches of Mykonos island that I personally visited, and then continue to explore the ones that interest you. Enjoy!;)
Moram priznati, imam cudnu "volim-mrzim vezu" sa Mikonos ostrvom. Naravno da je ostrvo predivno! Sjajno organizovane pescane plaze (verujte mi videla sam beeeezbroj grckih plaza), hoteli kao iz raja, sik restorani i taverne, elegantne radnje, odlicni klubove i barovi na plazi… ali… prosto mi je muka koliko je Mikonos komercijalizovan u poslednjih nekoliko godina. Toliko da je izgubio svoju draz.
Po meni Mikonos je mnogo vise od "party" ostrva. Iskeno receno mnogi koji posecuju Mikonos ni ne znaju da se provode i zabavljaju (naravno ako se ne nasljokaju od ranog jutra)… Elem preskocicu ruzne price o posetiocima ostrva, i fokusiracu se (kao i uvek) na ono najbolje sto Mikonos ima, u ovom slucaju- fenomenalne plaze! SKIATHOS, impressively green (think of lush pine and olive trees) and the most charming island of the Sporades... Crystal clear blue waters, golden sand, some of the most beautiful beaches of the Aegean, archaeological sites. The port in the main town full of yachts and boats, numerous restaurants and taverns, variety of shops, clubs, bars, cafes; here you can find anything and everything! The easiest ways to come are by plane (island has the airport) or to take ferry boat (mostly flying dolphins) from Volos city. Of course the best time to visit the island is summer season, especially July and August months, and for a quieter (but equally pleasing) vacation you might want to choose June or September.

SKIJATOS, zadivljujuce zeleno (pomislite samo na bujne redove borova i maslinjaka) i najsarmantnije ostrvo Sporada… Kristalno cisto plavo more, zlatan pesak, neke od najlepsih plaza Egeja, arheoloska nalazista. Luka u glavnom gradicu prepuna jahti i brodica, bezbroj restorana i taverni, raznovrsne radnje, klubovi, barovi, kafici, nema sta nema! Najlakse je doci ili avionom (postoji aerodrom na Skijatosu) ili do Volosa pa onda trajektom/delfinom. Naravno najbolje vreme za posetu je letnja sezona, narocito jul/avgust, a za mirniji (ali podjednako sadrzajan) odmor mozda je bolje izabrati jun i septembar.
