There's one "positive" thing (there are more positive things for me, but we won't talk about it right now) that people can learn during this global corona-virus epidemic. That is to value more travel, vacations, nature, landscapes. To appreciate more the freedom of movement. These are the things that most people take for granted. Also we get to feel again the inestimable power of silence, peace, balance...
For example, that feeling like "the time has stopped", I experienced during my short stay on Koufonisia island. When you feel there's only you and nature, when you hear the sounds of waves, sounds of birds. To sit in a bar by the sea at night, where commercial lamps are replaced with candles on the tables, starry skies and the full moon glow. Where the cars don't pass non-stop so the air is clean. Here you can fully feel that chillout vibe which became a luxury nowadays...
Of course in the peak-season it's a bit different. This small island known as Mykonos island heir, which covers only 26km², is crowded with people. That's why I prefer to travel off-season when you can enjoy the charm and natural beauty of a place without distractions, crowds and noises. Postoji jedna "pozitivna" stvar (za mene vise pozitivnih stvari, ali necemo sad o tome) koju ljudi mogu da nauce tokom ove globalne korona-virus epidemije. To je da vise vrednuju putovanja, odmore, prirodu, pejsaze… Da vise cene slobodu kretanja. To su stvari koje vecina ljudi uzima "zdravo za gotovo". Takodje nanovo se moze upoznati i osetiti neprocenjiva moc tisine, spokoja, mira, balansa...
Eto recimo taj osecaj "kao da je vreme stalo" sam dozivela tokom kratkog boravka na ostrvu Kufonisija. Osecaj da postojite samo ti i priroda, da cujes zvuke talasa, zvuke ptica. Da sedis uvece u kaficu pored mora, gde su komercijalne svetiljke zamenjene svecama na stolovima, zvezdanim nebom i sjajem punog meseca. Gde ne prolaze non-stop automobili pa je vazduh cist... Tu mozes da u potpunosti osetis, u danasnje vreme luksuzni, chillout vibe...
Naravno u spicu sezone stvar je pomalo drugacija. Ovo malo ostrvo koje nazivaju naslednikom Mikonosa, i koje zahvata svega 26km², je krcato ljudima. Zato ja vise volim da putujem van sezone, kada mozes da uzivas u carima i prirodnoj lepoti mesta bez ometanja, guzve i buke. Ovo su poslednje travel fotografije ljupkog Kufonisija ostrva koje imam da podelim sa vama... Ne, nisam tuzna, zato sto cu mozda ponovo ici tamo, ili cu mozda ici negde drugde. Toliko zabavnih opcija postoji, potreban je samo avanturisticki duh!:) Sjajno sam se zabavljala istrazujuci ovo malo ali super slatko ostrvo, i volela sam svaki post i fotografiju koje sam podelila ovde na blogu...
I feel like I could spend hours sitting on the edge of any cliff of Xilobatis bay, despite the wind that was blowing that day in
Koufonisia, watching the scene that I photographed for the blog. Ok
tastes are different, maybe someone doesn't find fascinating this natural
beauty, but I'm always captivated by the rock formations and deep blue waters of the
sea mixed with the whiteness of the turbulent waves. Although
that day we went to see Gala beach which I wrote about in this post,
Xilobatis Bay which is located just across Pori beach and Pori bay (you can see
more pictures here) equally enchanted me!
Imam osecaj da sam mogla sate da provedem sedeci na ivici bilo koje stene Xilobatis (Ksilobatis) zaliva, uprkos vetru koji je duvao tog dana na Kufonisiji, posmatrajuci prizor koji sam uslikala i za blog. Ok ukusi su razliciti, mozda neko ne pronalazi ovu prirodnu lepotu fascinantnom, ali mene uvek ocaravaju formacije stena i plavetnilo morske vode pomesano sa belinom nemirnih talasa. Iako smo tog dana krenuli da vidimo Gala plazu o kojoj sam pisala u ovom postu, Xilobatis zaliv koji se nalazi bas prekoputa Pori plaze i Pori zaliva (vidite vise slika ovde) me je podjednako zadivio!

island called Koufonisia. It covers the area of only 26km², so the entire island you can see in one day. Koufonisia
as a whole actually consists of two islands: Pano Koufonisi (where is the
main village and all the beaches) and Kato Koufonisi (uninhabited area
where the nature is equally beautiful and slightly wild). Believe
it or not, Koufonisia island is called "small Mykonos" and "Mykonos' sister", due to its specific cosmopolitan energy and charm...
Ako redovno posecujete moj blog, verovatnoca je da ste do sada videli prilican broj slika koje pokazuju ocaravajucu lepotu malog kikladskog ostrva pod imenom Kufonisija. Povrsine je svega 26km², i citavo ostrvo uzduz i popreko mozete obici za jedan dan. Kufonisija kao celina se zapravo sastoji iz dva ostrva: Pano Kufonisi (gde je glavno selo i sve plaze) i Kato Kufonisi (nenaseljeni deo gde je priroda podjednako lepa i pomalo divlja). Verovali ili ne, ostrvo Kufonisija nazivaju "malim Mikonosom" i "sestrom Mikonosa", zbog svoje specificne kosmopolitske energije i sarma...
Wherever you travel, especially for the first time,
the unwritten rule is that there is always a location/spot which you must visit
and see. Let's take Koufonisia for example- everybody told us that we shouldn't leave the island without seeing Gala beach! So
one morning we started a walk from Pori beach, following the path that forks into
two parts: one part leads to the beach, and the other part leads to the hill
which offers a fascinating view- and that is the path we quite
spontaneously followed...
Gde god da putujete, narocito po prvi put, nepisano pravilo je da uvek postoji neka lokacija koju morate posetiti i videti. Evo na primer na Kufonisiji, svi su nam rekli da ne smemo otici sa ostrva a da ne vidimo Gala plazu! Tako da smo mi jednog prepodneva krenuli peske od Pori plaze, sljunkovitom stazom koja se racva na dva dela: jedan deo vodi do plaze, a drugi deo do uzvisenja sa kojeg se pruza fascinantan pogled- kuda smo se i mi potpuno spontano uputili...
If you go to Google and type the word "Koufonisia", the first image you will see is the photo of Megali Ammos beach, which is the beach of the main island's village and is located right next to the harbor. This
also happens to be the first thing that I saw after leaving the ferry boat, so the first
impression was striking!:)
All beaches in Koufonisia are
sandy and very close to each other, which is logical because it's a small island. So if you go on foot from the main beach, in about 15-20 minutes you'll reach the next "bigger" beach called Finikas beach. And right next to Finikas beach is Fanos beach which I already wrote about in this post!
Ako ukucate na Google pretrazivacu rec "Koufonisia" prva slika koja ce vam izaci je slika Megali Ammos plaze koja je "gradska plaza" glavnog sela i nalazi se odmah pored glavne luke. Ovo je prvo sto sam i ja ugledala po izlasku sa trajekta, te je prvi utisak bio upecatljiv!:)
Sve plaze na Kufonisiji su pescane i vrlo blizu jedna druge, sto je i logicno jer je samo ostrvo vrlo malo. Pa ako krenete peske od gradske plaze, za nekih 15-20 minuta sticicete do sledece "vece" plaze koja se zove Finikas plaza. A odmah nakon Finikas plaze je Fanos plaza o kojoj sam vec pisala u ovom postu!
Of all the beaches on the small Cycladic island Koufonisia, Fanos beach is my favorite!! The water is beautifully turquoise, crystal clear, with no bigger waves and definitely the warmest (at least for me, lol)! On the beach there is one beach bar called "Fanos seaside beach bar" (which is also a restaurant, plus it has its own accommodation units) where we were regular guests!
Od svih plaza na malom kikladskom ostrvu Kufonisija, Fanos plaza je moj favorit!! Voda je predivne tirkizne boje, kristalno cista, bez vecih talasa i definitivno najtoplija (barem za mene, haha)! Na plazi postoji jedan beach bar pod imenom "Fanos seaside beach bar" (koji je ujedno i restoran, plus ima i sopstvene smestajne jedinice) gde smo mi bili redovni gosti!
Koufonisia is a small Cycladic island, and you can reach almost every beach on foot! From the main village 'till Pori Bay and Pori beach you need about 40-45 minutes walk. Of course you can come by the boat. But definitely the best view of Pori bay (see the first photo?!) you get when you're coming with a car/bike/bicycle and you're somewhere in the middle of the island!
Pori beach is a sandy beach, and the color of the water is beautiful, just like everywhere else on the island. It's not organized, although there are two taverns/coffee bars, and the one closer to the beach is called "Pori cafe". The beach is highly visited, actually in the peak season it's so crowded that you can't reach the water from all the towels! The only downside is when the wind blows on this part of the island- and then you risk "eating" a bit of sand while lounging on your towel!:D

Kufonisija je malo kikladsko ostrvo, i na skoro svaku plazu mozete doci peske. Od glavnog sela do Pori zaliva i Pori plaze treba vam oko 40-45 minuta hoda. Naravno mozete doci i brodicem. Ali definitivno najbolji pogled na zaliv imate kada dolazite kolima/motorom/biciklom pa se nadjete negde na sredini ostrva (vidite prvu sliku?!).
Pori plaza je pescana plaza, a boja vode je kao i svuda na ostrvu predivna. Nije organizovana, iako postoje dve tavernice koje ujedno posluzuju kafu i sl, a bliza plazi nosi naziv "Pori cafe". Plaza je vrlo posecena, zapravo u jeku letnje sezone je toliko krcata da ne mozete prici vodi od silnih peskira! Jedina mana je kada duva vetar na ovoj strani ostrva, jer onda rizikujete da "pojedete" malo peska dok se izlezavate na vasem peskiru!:D
